What is Google Plus?
Table of Contents
Google+ is a social network developed by the well-known American company Google. However, since Google doesn’t like that label, they say it is essentially a social sharing project that combines Gmail, Chrome, Android, Google Search, and other services. Google had already made social attempts with Google Wave and Google Buzz, but both failed, so Google+ was a new opportunity for Google to establish itself in the social space. Recent studies show that the number of users is constantly growing, yet Google+ still does not pose a threat to the popular Facebook.
Google+ Profile
To use Google+, you need to have a public Google profile. This must have at least a name that you choose for the profile, which is displayed to everyone. The chosen name will be used across Google services and can, in certain cases, replace another name that was selected when sharing content within a Google account. The identity from your Google profile is also visible to other people who have your email address or other information.
Google+ Services
The Google+ service is fairly simple and well-organized. Connecting with other people is similar to how we connect in real life. Photos, thoughts, and links can be shared with appropriate circles. Simple video chats allow you to talk with up to nine people at the same time. With group chat, you can let everyone know at once what’s new.
Circles, Chat, Games, Search, Messenger
Google+ offers the following features: circles, chat, games, and search. Photos from your mobile phone upload automatically. Messenger combines all separate conversations into one single chat, where coordination then proceeds without problems. Circles mean that you can share different things with different people. This way, you can have separate circles for parents, friends, acquaintances, colleagues, bosses, and others. Of course, sharing with other people is completely straightforward.
Hangouts chat rooms allow you to invite up to nine people to a chat, regardless of whether you’re in the city, at home, or using a mobile phone. In the Google+ game room, you can play games until you drop and beat your best friend at poker. Within the search feature, news from the web, public Google+ posts, and circle updates are displayed. You can instantly find useful information about the best restaurant in town, the most-watched movie, where the best party will be on Saturday night, and much more.
